The range of Dart Impact Testers is widely used by the clients for determining the energy, which causes failure of plastic films under specified conditions of impact. Impact resistance is determined as per IS–2508–1984/ASTM D–1709. These Dart Impact Testers are widely appreciated by the customers for their efficient performance, durability and high level of accuracy. Following are the details of these testers:
- These equipment conduct the test by dropping a free falling dart with a diameter suitable for the type of film that is to be used
- The dart, which has a hemispherical head, is dripped from varying heights depending upon the range of applications for the dart missiles heights for a particular type of a film
- Dart is dropped automatically by an electromagnetic device, controlled by a push button
- The tester is also fitted with one electric counter for the number of trials taken during the test
Description of the machine:
- Machine consists of a two piece annular specimen clamp, which has an inside diameter of 12.7 cm and conforms to the standards
- The lower (stationary) half of the clamp is rigidly mounted, so that the plane of the specimen is horizontal and at an angle of 90o with respect to the upright dart supporting member of the machine.
- The upper movable portion of the clamp is designed for maintaining the position and planer contact with the lower portion of the clamp when in position
- Internal surface has smooth coating of soft material, which provides cushion and minimises thickness variations. It also allows firm grip of the specimen.
- The clamping jaws are designed in accordance with the waves principle, so that the specimen is sat tightly. It also avoids slippage, even when vacuum clamping is not required.
